Bringing the environment closer to home
CSV Action Earth is a campaign co-ordinated by the national charity CSV Environment and is supported by Morrisons Supermarkets for the second year running
It’s aim is to involve thousands of people within 900 voluntary organisations, schools, businesses and community groups throughout the UK in projects that will be of immediate and lasting environmental benefit.
Projects can cover a wide range of activities e.g. tree planting, improving footpaths, making bird and bat boxes, woodland management work, clean-ups of derelict land, recycling schemes and planting bulbs and shrubs. Those taking part will be able to learn new skills, make a contribution to improving their own locality, become more informed about environmental issues, receive recognition for their involvement and have fun.
Anyone taking part will qualify for a small grant of up to £50 to help meet the cost of tools, materials and refreshments for volunteers.
The programme is particularly keen to target both rural and urban areas of social disadvantage and to involve those who have not previously been involved in environmental work.
Volunteers can register their project online by logging on to www.csv.org.uk/actionearth / www.actionearth.org.uk or they can call 0121 328 7455 (leave your full postal address) for a project pack.
