Representatives from the Salvation Army received hundreds of loaves of freshly baked bread from the bakery in the new Morrisons store in Giffnock on Tuesday afternoon.
The 'bread bonanza' was donated by Morrisons, which opens its new store on Fenwick Drive on Monday 18th February. In readiness, the store's bakery ovens are fired up to ensure that they are in full working order, prior to the opening, with all the day's baking being donated to local charity.
Store General Manager, Jeff Pennman said: "I am delighted that our first bake went to such a worthy cause. We want to ensure that nothing is wasted and are therefore donating it to where we know it will be used well."
