Morrisons is the first supermarket to sell RSPCA Freedom Food Labelled Free-Range duck, having recently launched Breckland duck within The Best range of exceptional food for everyday.
Wye Valley Chicken from RSPCA approved farms has also been introduced, extending Morrisons range of Freedom Food labelled chicken.
Both developments are under the Freedom Food farm assurance scheme, which is dedicated to improving farm animal welfare, and means the farm animals have been reared in accordance with RSPCA welfare standards.
Morrisons The Best Free-Range Breckland duck range includes whole duck, breasts and legs. The ducks are grown slower and reared specifically for their flavour and succulence, making a delicious alternative to other roasting meats such as chicken or turkey.
Morrisons Wye Valley chickens are reared on family farms in the Wye Valley region, they too are grown slower for a more succulent taste and are available whole, or portioned. Each pack is clearly marked with the farm from where the bird is reared to ensure traceability.
Steven Tait, Head of Freedom Food Sales and Marketing commented, “Animal welfare is an increasingly important consideration for the consumer. The Freedom Food label provides consumers with the assurance that the product is backed by the RSPCA,one of the most respected animal charities in the world. We are delighted that Morrisons is leading the way in its commitment to selling poultry from Freedom Food approved farms, and to improving farm animal welfare.”
