Welcome to the curious village of St. Mystere. Here, the townsfolk greet each other with riddles, lock their doors with sliding puzzles, and hide their secrets with brainteasers. When a wealthy baron passes away, his will reveals an elusive hidden treasure. Now it’s up to Professor Layton and his apprentice to untangle St. Mystere’s puzzles and locate the missing treasure.
One part adventure, two parts puzzle solving
The game was inspired by Professor Emeritus of Chiba University, Akira Tago, a psychology professor who is well known in Japan for creating brainteaser books. As such, you will encounter a wide variety of puzzles as you guide Professor Layton and his assistant Luke around the village.
Move at your own pace
What makes Professor Layton unique is the fact that it emphasises taking time to solve the puzzles. Absorb them as quickly, or as slowly, as you like while the good Professor looks for a mysterious item known as “The Golden Apple.” Along the way, you will solve other mysteries, such as who murdered Simon, Lady Dahlia’s brother (she is the one who hired Layton), the odd noises that come from the tower in the outskirts of town and what happened to the gate key.
A new level in puzzle solving
Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the first of its kind. Unlike other puzzle-driven titles it offers a compelling story, vibrant cast of characters, and style that are just as intriguing as the riddles it presents. It truly is like interacting with brainteaser novel.
