Macaroni cheese

Ingredients

  • 350g macaroni
  • 40g sunflower spread
  • 40g plain flour
  • 400ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 125g Cheddar cheese, grated

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200oC/400oF/Gas 6.
  2. Cook the macaroni as per the on-pack instructions.
  3. Meanwhile, melt the sunflower spread in the pan and stir in the flour. Cook for 1 minute, stirring, then gradually add the milk, continuing to stir over the heat until you have a smooth sauce.
  4. Add 100g of the grated cheese and mix well.
  5. Combine the macaroni with the sauce and spoon into an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle the rest of the grated Cheddar over the top and bake for 20 minutes until the cheese has melted and is golden and bubbling.
