1500 calories a day made easy
This 7 day meal planner has been designed by Morrisons own Nutritionist to help give tasty meal, dessert and snack ideas for seven days, using our Eat Smart range. All of the foods in the plan are available in your local Morrisons and many of the foods are Eat Smart products, which are either low fat or reduced in fat and specially designed to be used by people watching their weight. This plan is designed to provide around 1500 calories a day, be nutritionally balanced, and supply you with at least 5 portions of fruit and veg each day. Plus it provides no more than 20g of saturated fat and 70g of total fat and 6g of salt per day.
Making a start on your weight loss
Eating around 1500 calories a day, combined with regular activity can help you lose weight healthily. This amount of calories is 500 calories less than the normal Guideline Daily Amount (GDA, based on females), which is 2000 calories per day. Our meal planner shows you how easy it is to swap to low (or lower) fat, Eat Smart options for meals, snacks and desserts while watching portion sizes (how much you eat) to help you start losing weight. If you have any medical condition or health concerns you should consult your GP before starting this 7 day meal plan. It is not recommended that you follow this plan for more than 1 week.
What’s on the menu?
The plan provides for 3 tasty meals a day, plus snacks and a dessert. You’re also allowed 250ml (around a ½ pint) of skimmed milk. This might sound like a lot, but it is important to eat regular meals when you’re trying to eat healthily and lose weight. When people skip meals they tend to get too hungry and that’s when there is a temptation to overeat or go for a favourite treat food!

Top tips for losing weight:
- Eating more fruit and veg, watching your portion sizes (how much you eat) and swapping to lower fat foods will really help you lose weight.
- Try to be active for at least 20-60 minutes a day.
- Why not try 1% milk? Its fat content sits between skimmed milk and semi-skimmed milk, but it tastes like semi-skimmed milk in tea and on cereals. Swapping from whole milk or semi skimmed milk means you could save on fats and saturated fat over time, without giving up on taste!
- Don't mistake hunger for thirst. To keep hydrated you should drink between 6 - 8 glasses of water (or other non caffeinated, sugar free beverages) each day.
- It is important to eat regularly, and not skip meals, even when you’re trying to lose weight.
Healthy Lifestyles
Healthy eating is the best way to help you keep the weight off and keep healthy. A healthy lifestyle also means doing regular activity such as walking, gardening, active house work or exercise to increase your heart rate. It is recommended that you do at least 20 minutes of any of these activities each day and more (up to 60 minutes a day) if you're trying to lose weight.
