Crispy trees

Ingredients

For the trees

  • 150g chewy toffees 
  • 50g butter 
  • 150g rice crispy cereal 
  • 200g marshmallows

For the decoration 

  • Edible metallic balls to decorate

Method

  1. Put the chewy toffees and the butter into a large microwave-proof bowl. Microwave on high power for 3 minutes. Stir carefully with a wooden spoon, then tip in the marshmallows without stirring. Microwave for 1 minute then quickly stir in half the rice crispies. When fully mixed add the remaining rice crispies.
  2. Press mixture into a buttered baking tin and leave to cool.
  3. Using a tree-shaped cookie cutter, cut out the trees.
  4. Decorate with metallic sugar balls.

Step 1 requires adult supervision because the toffee is very hot when it comes out of the microwave.
