We might only be halfway through the year but it’s safe to say that 2008 is one of our best yet. Fending off stiff competition from our high street rivals, we've been named Grocer of the Year 2008 at the prestigious Grocer Gold Awards. The Grocer judges were particularly impressed with our focus on the fresh food offering of Market Street. We’re certainly proud to have more people preparing fresh food in-store than any other retailer, including skilled butchers, bakers and fishmongers. And it seems you’re happy too because for the first time ever our customer numbers have topped 10 million.

Retailer of the Year, Retail Week Awards, March 2008
We scooped the top title to be named Retailer of the Year. We were commended for having more fresh products made by hand in-store than any other retailer.

Created to cater for those of you with special dietary requirements, our Gluten-Free Penne and our Free From Rich Fruit Cake Slices were commended at this year's awards ceremony by Foods Matter Magazine.
The Grocer Own Label Excellence Awards, May 2008
We picked up four awards for our own branded food at this prestigious industry event. Winning produce included our RSPCA-accredited Wood Vale Whole Chicken and Morrisons ‘The Best’ Fresh Linguine Pastifico Rana.
Quality Drinks Awards, June 2008
Something else worth toasting is our success at the Quality Drink Awards. We won Best Red Wine up to £4.99 for our Morrisons The Best Montepulciano, Best Red Wine £5.00 to £9.99 for Morrisons The Best Pinotage, Best White Wine £5.00 to £9.99 for Morrisons The Best Chablis and Morrisons The Best Vintage Cava won Best Sparkling Wine up to £9.99.
