At Morrisons, you can rest assured that all the fish sold at our award winning fresh fish counters comes from sustainable stocks. We’re proud of our work with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), who help advise us on how best to do this.
To help our customers make informed choices when they’re buying fresh fish, Morrisons has developed and introduced labels explaining where the fish comes from and how it was caught. “Our customers are keen to know where their food comes from and to learn more,” says Morrisons Fish Manager Brian Dixon from our Gamston store, Nottingham.
He continues, “A trip to our fish counters often encourages shoppers to try some slightly less well known types of fish. Alongside the popular favourites such as Tuna, Haddock and Scottish Salmon, we also sell more unusual varieties such as Gurnard and Tilapia. With all the help and advice from our fully trained fishmongers, customers really enjoy the wide variety of species.”
Morrisons recognise the global importance of sourcing sustainable seafood and is committed to sustaining fish stocks. With over 50 varieties of fish, we are constantly looking to introduce new sustainable varieties. Fish such as New Forest Baramundi, Black Bream and Flounder are just three of the species that have been introduced so far this year.
So next time you’re in store, just ask our fishmongers to introduce you to some of our new tasty choices!
