A true Jersey Royal must be cultivated, grown and harvested on the island to earn its name. Jersey Royals are in fact the UK’s only fresh produce whose name is protected in this way, which places them among the ranks of classic food and wine such as camembert, champagne and Parma ham.
At Morrisons, we only buy Jersey Royals that are grown outdoors and harvested in season. Robert Perchard, whose family has been living on Jersey since the 12th century, and farming Jersey Royals for the past three generations, has been our supplier for over 10 years. The crop soaks up the sun on steep south facing slopes called cotîls before being picked by hand. From harvest we aim to get them to your local Morrisons store within just 48 hours, so they’re at their very best when you buy them.
