Morrisons have been working with three generations of the Strawson family, for a total of 15 years. The family started out with potatoes and then other vegetables. When Mark Strawson joined the company, they diversified into carrots.
“We harvest the carrots fresh each day to Morrisons’ orders, put them in lorries and deliver them to their fresh produce centre”, says Mark.
At the produce centre, they then get washed, cooled, quality checked and sized before they get shipped to stores.
Because we have our own fresh produce centres, we are responsible for the quality of our carrots from the moment they leave the farmer to being sold in store. By cutting out the ‘middle man’ we can pass on our savings to our customers.
