Local produce in local stores
Kelly’s ice cream and Sharp’s Eden Ale can only be found in our Cornish stores, whilst Elsdon Goats cheese and Northumbrian Onion & Chive cheese are a special find in our Northumberland stores.
We have over 230 locally sourced fresh and frozen Welsh products to choose from throughout our stores in Wales and over 500 dedicated Scottish products from over 100 Scottish suppliers in our stores in Scotland.
Regional choice for fruit and vegetables
Many of our suppliers work with us on a regional basis. For example Stewarts of Tayside supply our fresh raspberries, strawberries and swede to stores in Scotland.
When they’re in season we sell loose new potatoes from Wales, Scotland, Kent, Cheshire and Cornwall in local stores. Our lettuce suppliers in Lancashire serve stores in the north and the midlands, and suppliers in East Anglia serve stores in the south.
Bakery
We offer a range of local bakery specialities. In Cornwall we source and sell Saffron Cakes and Buns, Ale Cakes, and Yeast Cakes from WC Rowe in Falmouth . In Wales we stock Braces bread, Tany Castle Welsh cakes and Cae Groes Welsh cakes and Bara Brith loaf. In Scotland we bake Scotch rolls, crumpets and pancakes from scratch in store. We also sell Mothers Pride Scottish Plain loaf and Mothers Pride Potato Scones, produced in Glasgow.
Meat and poultry
100% of our in-store produced fresh beef and fresh lamb is Scottish in Scotland. 100% of our in-store produced fresh lamb and 98% of our fresh beef is Welsh in Wales. 100% of our in-store produced fresh lamb and 96% of our in-store produced fresh beef sold in English stores is from the UK. We were the first of the big 4 supermarkets to commit to selling only 100% British fresh pork and lamb, and 100% of our fresh chicken is British too.
Fish
100% of our fresh salmon at our fish counters is Scottish and all of our Yorkshire stores are supplied with award winning smoked salmon from Bleikers, a Yorkshire smokehouse. Local Yorkshire trout farm Glasshouses supplies our stores nationwide with fresh trout. Falfish supplies us with a wide variety of sustainable fish from waters around Devon and Cornwall. They supply stores across the UK with fish like Dab, Sprats, Monkfish and Sardines.
Dairy
Many of our dairy products are sourced from regional suppliers. Rowan Glen yogurts can be found in our Scottish stores, Woodland Dairy and Stapleton Farm yogurts throughout the South West and Llaeth Y Llan and Rachel yogurts in Welsh stores. We source Fresh and Low milk in Scotland to sell in our Scottish stores, Calon Wen Milk in Wales and Marybelle Milk in Ipswich and Suffolk. Butter and cream are also sourced from regional suppliers and our fresh eggs are also 100% British.
