Manager
Jim McCulloch brings a wealth of retail knowledge to Granton, obtained over his extensive retail career. Since starting at Morrisons 5 years ago, Jim has managed stores in Wales and Scotland including Cambuslang and Edinburgh, Ferry Road.
Colleagues
Our Granton store employs almost 300 colleagues. Specialist staff include bakers who are craft skilled so that they can bake over 80 different types of bread from scratch, butchers trained in traditional craft skills to offer the freshest meat and prepare over 150 cuts, and fishmongers equipped with the skills to prepare over 110 different cuts of fish.
Site
Morrisons new Granton store has been built on a 9.5 acre brown-field site previously used for industrial purposes. The former gas works has undergone extensive landscaping and improvements and is part of a huge development to regenerate the waterfront.
Building
A strong design theme runs throughout the building. It makes extensive use of natural stone, metal cladding and vast glass windows to create a sophisticated and modern look. Sympathetic with local architecture, it will also be in-keeping with the development of West Granton, which is closely associated with renowned architect Sir Norman Foster.
The store features numerous innovative, energy-saving technologies, such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems which generate electricity and heating in an energy efficient way, solar panels and a rain water harvesting system.
