Manager: Forty year-old father-of-two, Brad Dartington, joined the company over 16 years ago as a trainee manager and has worked his way through the management ranks to his position at the helm of this new store. He has managed various stores in the south east, including Wokingham, Queensbury and St Albans, and is really excited about bringing the unique benefits of Morrisons to Yiewsley.
Colleagues: Our Yiewsley store employs over 180 colleagues, including 23 former Co-op staff who joined Morrisons on handover of the store and 76 people who were previously unemployed. Specialist staff include bakers who are craft skilled so that they can bake over 80 different types of bread from scratch, butchers trained in traditional craft skills to offer the freshest meat and prepare over 110 cuts, and fishmongers equipped with the skills to prepare over 100 different cuts of fish.
Site: Morrisons new supermarket on Yiewsley High Street, formerly a Co-op store, was acquired in October 2008.
Building: The store has undergone a full refurbishment and conversion to incorporate Morrisons ‘Market Street’, as well as improvements to the customer car park.
Key features:
Market Street: a retail experience unique to Morrisons where all fresh food, much of it prepared in store, is stocked and sold. It contains a number areas, each with its own personality:
- Your Fishmonger: Trained fishmongers on hand all day to fillet and prepare any of our fish, plus advise on the best buys, choices and preparation ideas
- The Bakery: Craft bakers baking bread in small batches throughout the day so you can buy freshly baked bread
- Family Butcher: A friendly ‘real’ butcher able to cut and prepare meat the traditional way, offering a larger variety of cuts that any other supermarket
- Fresh To Go: Making salads and sandwiches in store from scratch using only fresh ingredients
- The Cake Shop: Packed full of freshly prepared cakes, doughnuts and cream cakes, filled in store throughout the day
- Oven Baked: Offering roast chickens, spare ribs, sausages and a range of pies, all cooked in store and served from the oven
